Carissa Krumholz has held the Interim Nurse Manager position for Generose 4 since May 12, 2021. She has handled this position expertly since that time. Carissa has over 26 years of staff RN experience on the inpatient Rehabilitation unit. Carissa has also been a charge RN, nurse preceptor and has probably been on every single unit-based committee the unit has ever had. The only qualification that Carissa does not currently have is a current Master’s degree. Carissa is willing to fulfill this requirement, but it will take her longer than the current graduation within 6-months that the position currently needs.
We are asking that you please allow Carissa to apply for and be interviewed as a candidate that would currently have the Master’s degree requirement, and that Carissa could obtain her Master’s degree in longer than the 6-month current requirement (if chosen with the normal application process). Carissa deserves a chance at applying for the Nurse Manager position.

The momentum behind this request is becoming impossible for them to ignore. I am exhausted by the constant uphill battle but seeing this level of backing reminds me why we cannot back down now.

I have worked with Carissa for 20+years. She is an expert on all aspects of Rehab. Our unit has come together since she has been the interim NM. She is the best choice for the position. Please allow her extra time to fulfill the educational requirements.
Please allow Carissa to apply and interview for the Nurse Manager position. Carissa stepped up and put her heart and soul into the interim position and I feel would be very valuable to Mayo and Rehab to be allowed to apply for the permanent position with time to finish her Masters degree.
Carissa has done an excellent job serving as interim nurse manager on Gen 4. Carissa has proved to be very organized and has boosted the morale of the rehab staff. It only makes sense to give Carissa the opportunity to continue her manager duties. 26 years as a rehab nurse should certainly speak for itself.
Experience and capability should be what matters. Both of which Carissa has without a Masters degree at the moment.
Carissa has made the world of a difference on our unit for cohesiveness, building morale & camaraderie and overall logistics of our routines (green light system, huddle updates, etc.). Plus, she's always been on point with helping us understand the "why's" behind the "what's". And she's a scheduling guru!
In the time Carissa Krumholz has been the Interim Nurse Manager she has performed in a professional manner. She has brought positive energy to the unit. Which has increased the spirit of staff. I hope with her proven background and leadership skills, that she will be considered a candidate for the position. She has shown her commitment to Mayo Clinic and her beloved Rehab Family by choosing to complete her Master's degree. She is a natural fit and the right fit for the position. Please allow her time for the educational requirement. She will continue to make Rehab a better unit. My wish is that you listen to our request as Carissa listens to us, the patients and their family.

Carissa has been fantastic in this interim role and has been a excellent communicator and collaborator to enhance practices on the rehab unit. It would be a true disservice to the rehab patients and staff to not allow Carissa to apply.
