Watching a bird enoy a drink of water, or cool down with a quick dip, is one of life's simplest pleasures. Birdbaths are a source of wonder, joy, beauty, and relaxation. Birdbaths have been allowed in our community, The Townes at Buckwalter, for years, without incident. Recently, a motion was passed to disallow birdbaths in our community. As a homeowner and resident, I vehemently disagree with the ban, and hereby create a petition to allow birdbaths in our community once again.

Updates

February 23, 2023

The local board has received our formal request to reconsider the recent motion regarding birdbaths. I have spent the past few days reviewing your comments and remain encouraged by the shared commitment to preserving our community atmosphere.

The response to this petition has been truly significant. It is clear that many neighbors support the return of birdbaths to our community. This momentum provides a strong foundation for our upcoming discussions with the board.

They could have simply asked people to change the water daily or add a pump to keep the water moving. Why not find a solution before issuing a total ban???

The POA should show proof where bird baths contribute to our mosquito problem. People who use bird baths enjoy watching birds. They keep the baths clean and change out the water often, so I don't consider it "standing water"

in addition, my research and interpretation indicate the Board does not have the authority to establish such a rule. I plan to notify the Board and ASM of such.

Mosquito dunks can control them by killing large. Totally save for birds. Bleach could be harmful.

I’m finding it difficult to understand how bird feeders are causing mosquitoes when this area is full of marshes, ponds and rivers. Eliminating bird feeders is NOT going to solve an insect issue. This is insanity.

Stagnant sitting water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes, not the situation fir birds baths, as bird lovers keep the water fresh and inviting ( and helpful) to birds. Birds need our help as the temperatures climb. To deny nature lovers their ability to enjoy birds while helping them is insensitive, inhumane and senseless.

Yes please allow the bird baths, oh for Pete's sake, what kind of a world is this, without them!?

This is probably the most nonsensical rule I've run into living in the towns. This reeks of "Karen" or "chad" mentality.
