Speaker Boehner, During the August Recess, the faith community, business leaders, law enforcement officials, immigrant-led organizations and concerned citizens came together to urge their members of Congress to pass just and humane immigration reform that includes a pathway to citizenship. The Sisters of Mercy joined this effort by hosting a series of immigration reform roundtables in the districts of Congressman Steve Chabot (OH-1), Congressman Daniel Lipinski (IL-3) and Congressman Lee Terry (NE-2). As a person of faith, I support the Sisters of Mercy and the hundreds of other organizations that reminded members of Congress over the recess that the majority of Americans want comprehensive immigration reform. Over the past month, many members of Congress responded and publically endorsed reform with a pathway to citizenship. Currently, there are more than enough bi-partisan votes to pass true reform that will secure our border, grow the United States economy, keep families together and improve the lives of millions of people. We call on you to allow a vote on an immigration reform bill that includes a pathway to citizenship.

I honestly cannot believe how fast the momentum is growing and seeing so many people pushing for this vote feels like a dream. It just makes me think about those first few days when I was sitting here alone in my room wondering if anyone else actually cared about this reform as much as I do.
