100% agree with other comments having a son diagnosed at 19 months old with Type 1 it is a life threatening condition with no breaks or time off and yet so much stigma attached to it.

It is important that our children with T1 are given the best opportunities to have a longer healthier life and the support of DLA is paramount in their care, at 18 years old they are still in our care, since most are still students. With DLA support some stresses are alleviated, when dealing with their needs. As parents we all hope to provide, what is in our children's best interests, therefore DLA is essential.

Definitely needs to be, as a mum of two with type 1, every day is so unpredictable, every night becomes a worry, a diabetic mum never switches off, it is a 24/7 condition..there is no regulation as every single emotion throughout life can raise or lower levels significantly without warning.

all children with type 1 diabetes should get dla until they are 18, at least their lives would be made slightly easier and helps with queuing etc

Type 1 diabetes is life-threatening with no known cure. Our children need help, Type 1 doesn't just stop being dangerous because they become a teen or adult. What part of lifetime/lifelong illness and NO cure don't people understand

I definitely believe that every child who has Type 1 diabetes should be able get DLA until there 18th birthday when some of them will finish full-time education.

I believe every child who is unlucky enough to have Type One Diabetes should receive FLA until their 18th birthday. The amount of care and support required to live a healthy, safe life puts tremendous added stress onto our children and onto the parents. Each child with Type one should receive at least middle rate DLA
