It was in the news not long ago that parents can deny to move from the disabled space on a bus even if a disabled person requires it. This is disgusting! Fold up your pushchair, put your shopping in the luggage compartments and sit with your baby. If your pushchair won't fold small enough then invest in a pushchair that will for when you're on public transport. These spaces are there because disabled people asked for then and fought for them. What would you be doing if they hadn't? That's right, folding your pushchair and carrying your child. Be considerate! Give your space up for the disabled.

Designated space for use by disabled passengers travelling on public transport should be protected and priority given to the disabled as citizens with equal rights. Local Transport Authorities have a responsibility under the Equality Act 2010 to provide wheelchair accessible transportation and ensure at least one space for a wheelchair, mobility scooter or parent with buggy is made available for disabled users of the service. This space should be protected for disabled citizens so that they are not placed in the position of having to negotiate their rights or appeal to the responsible attitude or caring attitude of other passengers or worse being denied the right to travel due to safety reasons.

Disabled seats and spaces are for people with disabilities , if there is a problem for parents with young children bus or coach companies need to factor this in the design and seating arrangements , not allow a situation like this that threatens the ability for a person with disabilities to travel. The notion they can wait for the next coach when they had to book a seat iis ridiculous. My daughter has a Chikd with cerebal palsy and can only visit me by coach from Crawley to Somerset, what are they meant to fo if they can't get a seat on the coach they have a ticket for . This is a disgrace

Some of the comments I've seen on this petition being shared just makes me mad, disabled spots are for wheelchair users and a privilege to mums with prams.
