All private and social rented houses must conform to the standards as provided by HAP, PRTB & County Councils
As we cannot control the constant rising property prices, Private landlords should have to undergo inspections like the landlords do whilst receiving HAP to ensure all rental properties are in liveable working order, i.e. No damp, BER certs, working amenities. Any properties that fail inspection should be given a time frame to fix issues and then reinspected. County Council should issue a letter of certification to ensure all properties are up to standard. If a landlord fails to comply their rental property should be taken off the market until certed.
