ALL DUCKS FIT (Body Image Awareness at University of Oregon)
When it comes to body image, the way we associate language with our bodies matters
Society has created the illusion that our appearances need to fit into a mold to be accepted; because of this, we may hold some biases about what looks “good” and what looks “bad.”
How many times have you said or heard someone say “I hate my….” or "I wish I was…?” When we make negative statements like these, it creates a culture of comparison and unrealistic expectations.
The language we use internally and externally can continue or challenge these ideas. At UO, we want to challenge the negative culture surrounding body image that the media has built for us, instead finding ways to accept and empower everyBODY.
