Final supporters
Alice Street, Keighley hosts a number of businesses which attract a lot of people; a bingo hall, supermarket, community hall, barbers, taxi rank and 2 takeaways, all within yards of each other. Only the supermarket has parking but even that has outgrown its needs. So people park on double lines, and on pavements. This causes not only problems to those navigating the street by cars but poses a potential to tthose on foot. Alice Street is a walking route for many who attend the local primary school.
Added to the already dangerous situation there are people who use the street as a speed run. Our petition is for two things which would add to the safety of the area:
1. To introduce tragic calming measures:
CentralHall is used increasingly by those living with dementia and their Carers and pre-school children - an accident WILL happen it's just a matter of time. We don't want to wait!
2. To create car parking space to elliviate congestion on the road
To allocate some of the land currently being cleared on Lord Street with a plan to grass over to build a car park- this could be charged for thereby creating revenue for the Council and improving businesses growth and ensuring safety of the community.

I just watched someone nearly clip a stroller right outside the bingo hall and honestly it makes my heart race every time I walk down Alice Street now. The local council keeps ignoring my emails about the Lord Street land but if they could just see the chaos at school pickup time maybe they would rethink their silence.

Trying to navigate across Alice Street on foot is a nightmare , and it is almost impossible with small children and older people. It is an accident waiting to happen. Please support the measures outlined. Best Wishes Jo Horrox
Parked cars force you to drive in the middle of the road. It's incredibly dangerous. I've been hit once and had several narrow misses from cars coming in the opposite direction. Additional parking would be ideal.

First of all close the junction at the top of Alice street onto Skipton road then you won't need calming measures ,there won't be any need for speeding short cut cars

It's very congested by traffic and difficult to cross the road. Not a safe road at all.

I have witnessed road racers on Alice street as well as other streets and roads in the town, a lack of police presence in the area causes such changers but it does need policing ( STOPPING )
