Alderville First Nation Election Reset

To the Electoral Officer.
There were several discrepancies recognized in the nomination process for Alderville First Nation’s Leadership Election that was held on Friday June 6th, 2025.
According to our Election Code, a candidate must notify the Electoral Officer if they are standing or withdrawing the candidacy within 3 days by 6:00PM on the third day. In the past, candidates only had to notify the Electoral Officer if they were withdrawing.
As a new community-voted Election Code, this new change should have been highlighted in our community newsletter. It was not. The newsletter stated only the old information that candidates had to notify the Electoral Officer if they were withdrawing.
Nomination Packages were given to candidates who attended nomination night in-person. We question why nomination packages were not sent via email to candidates who could not be there.
We would also argue that 3 days should at least be 3 business days.
As a result, community members of Alderville First Nation who were nominated, have been left off the ballot.
Due to inconsistent and inefficient communications, we the undersigned – members of Alderville First Nation – request an Election Reset so that the Nomination process is clear, well communicated and fair.
