We the undersigned ask that the recent increase in tax on premixed drinks, Alcopops, by the Austrailian Federal government be removed. We believe that the tax increase was implemented with all good intentions but without adequate investigation. It punishes all for the misuse of these drinks by a minority. The issue of binge drinking by young people will not be solved by increasing the cost of the drink, as it will merely result in those involved changing their method of intoxication, possibly resulting in increased social and personal health problems.
