Agreed -- this is about The bastardized approach to a mother agreement where a loophole has been forced upon an entire province without any ratification at all and against any mother agreement whatsoever. If certain trades have priced themselves out of market then these two organizations should have given a heads up to what is really going on and not take across the board for all. This could have been done very differently if it was thought out at all!

Funny how a membership can have a landslide vote against something, and saying NO as clear as can be. Then a USA run international rep comes along and signs against the membership and the idea that was voted against. It just happened in Ontario last year when 128 voted more than 60% opposed and Joseph Maloney came along and signed against them. In other words. Your voted was worthless and it doesn't matter.

Years ago when I was a member of the CUPE Union back East I had the right to vote for not only bargaining issues and decisions we also got to vote for our representatives. Since moving out West and becoming a union member out West it is no longer a democracy the QCC is a dictatorship.

Building Trades do not have the best interest in people who are the membership and are of whom are the backbone and true holders of a union. A membership truly is to decide. Not the building trades.

Proper leadership is required at all levels of government and union locals or were all doomed to revert our industries back to the early 1900s when we had to use a big stick to get respect. I hope we don't have to go there again but it may happen due to the frustration of the masses and the deaf ears of the leaders in making proper decisions for all and not just big business. History has a way of repeating itself.

Driving our wages down is making it impossible to find balance in this economy. When I got into the trades, I wanted a better life for my family, a path to retire on. As inflation rises and our wages don't match that rise, I feel I very well may die swinging a hammer

Unions had a great part in building this province, and in working hard to protect the working class from unfair working conditions, and substandard wages. The building trades should continue to make these their two primary goals. This; while aggressively. Pursuing more work for all of us. There is no need to import skilled foreign workers at a lower wage. All this does is drive our standard of living down...... Across the board. We all suffer in this race for the bottom.

The immense sacrifices made by the members of our organization, local 146 can never be truly replaced or substituted.
From funerals to child births, weddings to convacations
Lost time spent with our young ones, spouses or away from the lifestyle of a non traveling worker...
we sacrifice it all... in many ways.
Although we work in (a) resource focused profession(s), we still lose the most valueable resource of all:
Time.
We work far from home and long hours to make ends meet for our families. To continually reduce our wages not only detracts and resigns the best specialists in our respective field, but it undermines one very simple fact:
Oil, like many resources is finite.
So while the value of this commodity will continually rise, our workers will suffer in a market that will leave us behind. All the while, companies and big businesses endevour to make a quick buck in the present.
By setting a fair and respectful wage, we can ensure the best training,
attract and properly care for the best trades people North America has to offer,
and we can all look to the future with the ability to contribute in society, not only in our industry but with our families.
This in turn positively affects every business partner, contractor and client the is associated with The Boilermakers and heavy trades.
In addition to this, the boilermaker trade organization also needs to think long term. By metaphorically strangling our wages, our people and their children and children's children will not be made successful in their pursuits in being functional members of society. I encourage all to take part in this petition.

They are not looking out for our interests,these people should be lobbying the government to stop deals with China etc. They seem to forget,if we are all gone then there out of a job
