The Alaska legislators need to stand up for Alaska children. Stop following corporate handlers. Pass the ORIGINAL 3 page Erin's law and show you really do care about Alaska's children. Our current statistics are a disgrace.

As a parent, as an educator, as a survivor or sexual abuse, and as a survivor of an abusive relationship, I cannot help but wonder what motivation there could be for watering down this act. This is not a political issue, this is not a partisan issue, this is a HUMAN issue. Perhaps Sen. Duleavy is ignorant on our state's statistics regarding abuse; I doubt it. So then, the only reasonable conclusion is that he doesn't care. That, makes him beneath my contempt. I'm sorry he doesn't care enough about the women and children in his family to do the right thing. Perhaps he would like to explain to my son, who was molested by his step-brother, why this law isn't necessary...because I cannot.

Pass this protective legislation now! Everybody tells their kids not to accept rides from strangers, but they are rarely told why. Prevent sexual "terrorism" which I watched my mother suffer from the effects of for decades after it occurred . Pass the legislation NOW!
