We, the undersigned members of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Incorporated, now petition the Board of Directors, known as the Directorate, to address and take expedient action on the following:  

Call an emergency meeting of the Boule: Given the findings of the September 20, 2010 audit prepared by John Burke and Steven Kirby, alleged investigations by the IRS and the Illinois Attorney General, and the subsequent lawsuits and negative media coverage surrounding these issues; we compel the Directorate to call a special meeting of the Boule. As plans for the sorority's biennial leadership conference are currently underway, we propose that this special meeting could be held  during the 2011 leadership conference, which will take place July 13 - 17, 2011 in Atlanta, GA. This date provides ample time for all Regional conferences to have taken place and for chapters to designate their delegates who will have voting privileges.

Reinstate the eight plaintiffs: We request that all eight plaintiffs in the lawsuit against Alpha Kappa Alpha have their membership privileges reinstated immediately, as our sorority documents state that this action must be initiated by their respective Regional Directors. The rationale given, which is that members who sue the sorority are suspended, is not supported by our sorority documents and is therefore in violation of our documents. In addition, it is well known that there have been other members who have sued the sorority and have not been suspended. Even our past International President Barbara McKinzie and most recently oldest-living past President Soror Julia B. Purnell, have brought suit against the sorority and have not been suspended for doing so. It is unfair to suspend these eight sorors when other members that have bought suit have not been treated this way; and we request that their privileges be restored immediately.

Conduct a full financial audit of all sorority accounts: The partial financial audit conducted in September 2010 uncovered an alarming display of egregious financial malfeasance and misconduct, and therefore warrants that a full financial audit must be conducted for all sorority accounts, including the Educational Advancement Fund.

Honor requests of Soror Julia B. Purnell and retire her legal fees: As our oldest-living International President, Soror Julia B. Purnell has stood for transparency and accountability and has sought to ensure that our sorority remains perpetual for the next 100 years and beyond. In spite of her numerous years of leadership and service to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Soror Purnell, and her plight, has been dismissed and disrespected. Soror Purnell's actions have all been done for the good of Alpha Kappa Alpha, and as a result, she has accrued a legal bill that increases with the sorority leadership's attempts to stall and refuse cooperation with the courts. We seriously request that the sorority retire her legal bills once all legal matters have been resolved.
