I am signing this petition in reference to Orlando J. Gibson, an inmate at York County Prison in York, PA. I support the International Peoples Democratic Uhuru Movement's demand for the immediate lifting of the detainer placed on Orlando, making it impossible for him to post bond. Orlando has done everything that State requires since his release from prison. He was working full time as a legitimate peddler with a valid license, he immediately got custody of his son who was in foster care, he was going to school full-time, and was the lowest level of parolee; having only to see his parole officer once every three months and no longer having to give urine samples for drug tests. He has been out of trouble and a "productive member of society". We recognize that the recent arrest of Orlando J. Gibson is an attempt to silence his political activity, therefore amounting to an outright attack on his first amendment right to free speech and political association. Orlando J. Gibson should have the ability to continue to take care of son and handle his business while awaiting the opportunity to prove his innocence in this situation. Again, we are demanding the immediate release of Orlando J. Gibson by the lifting of the State Parole Board issued detainer, allowing him the opportunity to post the allotted bond.
