Keep it low, for the kids!!

Too close to Margaret Beeks Elementary School,, I am against this development.

I feel this development is too close to Margaret Beeks Elementary School.

This development violates the original town plans, increases traffic and therefore risk to the currents residents and their children (as well as all of the children at Beeks Elementary), lowers home values in the area, and it is not what this resident prefers which would cause me to move out of blacksburg. I am not opposed to development. I would prefer to see some single family homes in that area as there is a high need for more single family homes in this area because it is in high demand and know for being a very family friendly area with a strong sense of community.

Responsible Development

I stand against this sort of development, but especially next to a school. Certainty there is a more useful purpose for such land, especially in a town like Blacksburg which needs more green areas to protect for our children and for the children's safety.

This location makes no sense for higher density student apartments. This is why we have a comprehensive plan and future land use map - not so it can be changed whenever a developer can make a buck.

This is a single family residential area... no multi unit construction has a place here. Their are many families here and multi unit dwellings would attract students and not a good mix!!

This is ridiculous. There is no need for more apartments in Blacksburg at this time. There is almost a 20% vacancy rate with more apartments being built on Prices Fork Road that will house up to 800 people. This is merely a greedy developer looking to shoehorn in apts so he can make money....no other reason. Margaret Beeks and the neighborhood around it should be safe from this corrupt, greedy, unscrupulous developer who clearly has no sense of what he would impact--to the detriment of many, many families.

I think this property should remain zoned for low density housing.

This is a terrible idea for student housing. There is a school, church, fire house already. The traffic, noise, and trash would be horrendous. As others have said it proposes a safety issue for the children walking home and a quiet and peaceful neighborhood will no longer be. There are many other places to build student housing....go elsewhere, leave this neighborhood alone!!

Please do not this project here!

This is a bad idea and bad community planning. Not a bad idea for student housing but a horrible idea for the selected location. The greatest hazard would be to the students of Beeks Elementary School, those who walk to and from school, not to mention all of the residents in the adjacent neighborhoods who have enjoyed the peace and quiet environment of this area for decades. Blacksburg's political leaders need to stand firm against the proposed land use change and stand up for the school, kids, and neighborhoods in the immediate area. Please vote no on the proposed land use change.

What a horrible idea!! The kind of traffic that would impose on that street would be DANGEROUS to the kids attending that school, the kids who walk to/from school, and the residents who now enjoy a quiet neighborhood and streets. PLEASE do not rezone!!!! The land use designation was established for a reason: do not let one man's greed become a whole neighborhood's nightmare!!!

Please keep the land use at low density residential.

Not appropriate for collage housing . Do not allow this!

The developer's proposal is inconsistent with their stated reasons for the change of land use request. That in itself suggests that they are not being upfront from the beginning and is enough reason to deny the request. My biggest concern however is the safety of the children living in Airport Acres and surrounding homes and for all those that attend the elementary school. The addition of student housing (which we are all smart enough to know is what will happen to a development this size) would destroy one of the nicest options of affordable housing that Blacksburg currently has to offer. We trust that the officials will do what is right for the residents of the neighborhood, the children who attend Margaret Beeks, and the town of Blacksburg as a whole and not just for the benefit of a developers pocketbook. I respectfully request that you deny this rezoning request.

This is not a good location for multifamily residences.

I am definitely opposed to the development of this land next to my daughter's school and believe it would be a detriment to the neighborhood and to Margaret Beeks.

No to any development next to Beeks Elementary except for parks or athletic fields.
