Maybe some regulations are needed to protect hosts and customers alike. I have nothing but good experiences using Airbnb in Japan. I hope the hosts can continue to provide excellent service and stil make a profit.

Good initiative . Japan always excell at restriction without common sense up to date alternatives solutions while in the same time promoting welcome tourist marketing campaign for the olympics! What a joke! Airbnb offers what nobody else can in terms of pricing, options and local community cultural exchange without saying the economic impact to surrounding shops . So get real and wake up Mr government or stop pretending and show your real Omotenashi !!!

If Japan wants to be recognized and respected as a Modern, 21st Century City in a Modern , 21st Century country, Not a third world country, the 2020 Summer Olympic Games to be held in Tokyoaren't enough. The Worlds biggest event platform needs tourists. And yes Japan can use anything useful to make it visitor friendly and resident friendly too. So yes to airbnb!

Japan is an economic success story. Why they have become so anti-free market is beyond me.

Japan is known as a very expensive place to travel to. Airbnb allows more people the ability to afford a trip to Japan, it allows Japanese the chance to meet non-Japanese face to face and to get to know each other. It allows non-Japanese who have made Japan home the chance to share their love of this country and bridge the language gap in fluent -fill in foreign language:

Airbnb guests will spend a lot of money, because it is cheap compared to other countries. Japan is becoming a popular place to shop. Without Airbnb - fewer tourists = less money into Japan.

My first ever airbnb experience was in Japan and it was nothing short of amazing! This is one of the best platforms for cultural exchange, even more so for culturally rich Japan. It would be a shame to have this experience taken away from potential visitors.

Spent two months exploring Japan and having the best time of my life. Meeting the most amazing and caring people!! None of this would have been possible if not for using AirBnB!!! Please don't take that opportunity away from people that just want to see this beautiful place!
