The public humiliation Ann Curry was subjected to on TODAY needs to be addressed. Not only did Ann Curry unfairly have to carry the blame for a shift in ratings, she was even denied what has become a typical tribute/farewell to departing TODAY hosts. With class, grace, courage, heart, and integrity, Ann Curry served TODAY for 16 years. During those 16 years, she was part of a team that earned the highest ratings; she deserved a dignified and grateful tribute. Other departing hosts who were at TODAY for only a few years, were honored with hour-long tributes. That Ann Curry had to single-handedly carry the blame for the low ratings, be given only a 5 minute farewell, and be subjected to shameful public humiliation is outrageous and cruel. The classiest member of the TODAY team was given the most tacky, crass, unreasonable treatment. Those who made this decision are in direct opposition to the class and grace that Ann Curry has displayed. So far, NBC has remained silent, thinking they can just ignore the controversy, but guess what? TODAY is a news program, and they are refusing to address what is one of the biggest new stories: they behaved badly, and many are threatening to boycott TODAY. NBC needs make a public statement, giving Ann Curry a respectable farewell, and praising her for her contributions, courage and compassion (while they have displayed neither). Sign here if you want to pledge to boycott TODAY until their producers acknowledge their horrid behavior.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people feel the same way I do about this situation. This momentum belongs entirely to the people who cared enough to speak up when they saw something wrong.
