Age of home is a common and important question asked by our clients. It is also an essential tool in creating proper CMAs, as well as setting up auto-searches based on age as a criteria. Age of home is a mandatory field on the majority of boards across Canada; including those surrounding TREB.
In a recent study of homes listed in Mississauga, Less than 30% of homes, many less than 5 years old or new, did not have the "age of home" field filled out. Moreover, in some cases age of home was stated in the broker/client remarks and yet the field was left blank.
With the many resources available to obtain age of dwelling information, it is no longer acceptable to leave this field blank.
We are asking that the age of home field be mandatory with an option of 'unknown' for those cases where dating a home is beyond the scope of an agents knowledge, and expertise.
