Currently boys have to be 21 years of age for them not to have their parents consent for marriage and 18 years for girls. I would like for South African's to stand together and ask government to change this, girls should also be 21 years of age. Let me tell you why I decided on this: in Jan 2014 my daughter turned 18, two months later she ran away with a 31 yr old man and married him in Sept 2014. We, as her parents are not allowed to have any contact with her (this is presumably a demand from her husband). Less than two weeks ago she called and told me he hit her - but she stays. (This is a shortened version) And legally there is nothing we can do about it. So if you have a girl child, lets protect them as much as we can.
