I honestly still feel like I am dreaming but the ruling finally came down in our favor today. I am sitting here overwhelmed by everything that happened and just so incredibly thankful that people actually listened to us. We need to stay alert and keep watching the news because things …
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
MY RELIGION, MY BODY, MY CHOICE!!!
MODESTY, why are so many people against it these days The personal and religious choice to conceal one's physical attributes in order to shed some light on the importance of interior beauty is not only frowned upon in Canada right now, it is being threatened to be legally banned. Since when is it a crime to fulfill the obligations of one's religion by practicing modesty and self-respect
Members of the Muslim Canadian Congress claim that covering of the face is a symbol of extremism with no basis in Islam therefore wearing burqas and niqabs should be banned. They argue that this is a practice that has no place in a society that supports gender equality. But Canada is not just a society that supports gender equality; it is a country that prides itself on fundamental rights of freedoms.
As stated in the Canadian Charter, fundamental rights and freedoms include the following:
(a) Freedom of conscience and religion;
(b) Freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication
Wearing burqas and niqabs are not just a religious duty for many Muslim women; it is an identity and form of self-expression that should be practiced with free will.
Enough is enough, get over your hate for our peaceful religion and give us the same rights as everyone else in the country.
I have been sitting here reading through all the stories people are sending in about their personal struggles and honestly it is just overwhelming to see how much this matters to so many of you. My inbox is full of messages about what it means to live your faith freely and I am currently working on a plan to make sure these perspectives actually reach the people in charge because ignoring us is not an option anymore.

Stop targeting women for what they choose to wear. It is ridiculous that this is even a debate in a free country.
