I stand with the National Conference for Community and Justice of the Piedmont Triad (NCCJ) in strongly opposing Amendment One (the "Marriage Amendment"), which would write discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation into the North Carolina Constitution. If approved by voters, Amendment One would deny civil rights to a minority group and enshrine discrimination and exclusion as the law in North Carolina. It has no place in our state's constitution.I will affirm my support of civil rights by voting against Amendment One and by encouraging friends and neighbors to do the same. (Please note: The request for a contribution after you sign is from ipetitions.com, not NCCJ.)
I really never expected to see this kind of energy building up when I first hit publish on my laptop late at night and honestly my hands were shaking a little bit. It is wild to see so many people connecting over this because it makes the whole situation feel way less lonely than it did when I started. I guess we are finally tapped into something that people actually care about which is just such a massive relief.

Why are we still having this argument in 2012. Ridiculous.
