courts of Khartoum continue to issue selective brutal Provisions Ombda General Criminal Court in Khartoum state - headed by Judge : Sami Ibrahim Shabo sentenced to death by stoning a woman who was accused of having an illicit relationship with a man and having a child as a result of this relationship on Sunday, May 13, 2012. This provision comes in accordance with Article 146 of the Sudanese criminal law. The Judge has acquitted the man accused in that same case justifying this by the lack of his confusion. Sudan Change Now condemns this brutal provision which based on controversial Islamic legitimate opinion , and we demand immediate interference of the judicial authorities in Khartoum to stop the implementation of this sentence that is extremely brutal and violate shamefully the spirit of humanity and civilization as well as all principles of justice by condemning one party in an act requires necessarily two to occur. This provision also reflects the blatant discrimination against women and major violation of their equal rights. We appeal to all Sudanese citizens, and all individuals and organizations from around the world to sign on this petition and to address the Sudanese government to stop this immediately and ensure non-recurrence of issuing such judgments.
