Opposition to the planned development of land west of Jones Meadow Neighborhood

We have elected mayor and city council members who represent the people of South Jordan. Is the development of land in South Jordan a reflection of what the people want? Is the voice of the people being heard? Many of our elected officials have claimed they will promote careful and wise development. Are they following through? As I talk with fellow residents I get the impression that they, like me, are very concerned about the way the land in South Jordan is being developed. Many of us chose to live in South Jordan for very specific reasons. We want good, safe neighborhoods. We want good schools. We want parks and open space that lend to the beauty of our city, we want our home values to be maintained. Please protect residential areas at all cost. Commercial development should have the lowest possible impact on homes and neighborhoods, or plans should be altered or changed. The future is in the people who choose to live here. Don't let the city's tax base decide how our city will be developed. We have already seen many affects of poor planning in our city.

We have young kids and sooo many people cruise thru our neighborhood at top speeds!! We don't need more cars and traffic to worry about!! Stop building out here!! We have enough commercial! Bring back the beautiful South Jordan we used to love.

We do NOT need anymore traffic thru and by our neighborhood. South Jordan used to be a beautiful place 15 yrs ago. That's why we moved here. Now it is all commercial and cars and bigger traffic lanes. Please stop the madness!!! Bring back the trees and the cozy atmosphere that it used to be!!

What happened to the Harvest Villas project? I am sick and tired of looking at 2 to 3 stories or higher buildings. Enough from South Jordan.

Don't we have enough construction going on already? Isn't traffic bad enough? When will we stop making congested areas more congested?

I wish the City Council and City Planner would listen to the residents of South Jordan. When they put the high density housing over by The District the residents of South Jordan fought it. When they wanted to put high density housing by Sprouts, the residents opposed it. As a result, the Mayor and a couple of city council members were voted out. The people of South Jordan voiced their opinion, I wish that the city government would listen. The city also needs to develop a master plan and stick with it for more than 5 years. The land around River Heights has been rezoned many time. The rezoning take into account the developers and not the current residents. As a result of the resent development, the traffic in the surrounding neighborhoods has increased. The crime rate has also increased, nightly raiding of mailboxes, cars stolen, packs and decorations taken off porches, and cars speeding through the neighborhood. The recent development have brought tax revenue to the city at the expensive of existing home owners. With the development that has taken place over the last few year, we have seen city revenues go to expanding roads and ripping out the beautiful entrance into our city. If this is the result of increased tax revenue we do not want it. An example is 104/106th, this beautiful entrance into our city has been destroyed to expand the road. Keeping River Height the existing size will continue to push traffic onto Bangerter. After all, Bangerter is a major highway a block away from River Heights, let the traffic use it and keep the increase of traffic away from existing neighborhoods. With the sharp increase of commercial develop over the last 5 years the most common justification has been to increase tax revenue. The most visible use of revenue has been to endlessly rip of streets to support to high density and commercial development. It is important for cities to grow but it must be done in a way keeps the original charm of the city. Many cities, like Orem are
