We, the resident AND ratepayers of the Bluff Durban hereby request that the McClaren's Circus NOT be allowed to have their show on our Bluff Showgrounds. We have just recently had a protest against Boswell Circus held at the Dutch Club whom in response rejected the McClaren's Circus to have their show there afterwards. Harlequins sports club have also declined to permit a circus the usage of their grounds for a circus. As ratepayers, we strongly feel that the municipality should respect the wishes of the Bluff residents NOT to allow ANY circus event that involves animals to be given permission to have their shows on our showgrounds. We have educated ourselves regarding how these animals are tormented and abused in order for them to act out these silly acts they do in a circus and the fact that they are carted around in cages for weeks on end travelling from town to town. This is animal abuse and we request that the Municipality respect our grievances and petition against putting money into these animal abuser's pockets.
