"Good day Members of Council & Miss Mayor,
I am writing this email ahead of the next LRT Debate.
Who am I?
I am a Born & Raised Bramptonian. I have lived in Brampton for all but 2 years of my my 29 year life. The 2 year absence was for education.
I grew up and still live just north of the downtown core, I have worked at 3 different restaurants in the down town core at different points in the last 10-15 years. I also sat on the BDDC restaurant committee for the local eateries in 2007/08.
I am asking Council to reject the LRT route thru downtown Brampton as a concerned Citizen.
From my experience this is absolutely not necessary. I have ridden the Zum bus several times at different times of day over the past few years. Is it very busy during Rush hour? Absolutely.
Have any of you championing this LRT ever taken transit in any big city? Its always busy at rush hour Hence the Term "Rush Hour"... I have taken the Zum up main street at non peak hours as well, Mid morning late evening ect... it is never even close to capacity so why are we building this on this route? Going up the queen or steels corridors seems to me from my experience (actually riding transit) is where an LRT is needed if one is needed at all.... That is where the factories are, That is the route to Humber Collage, Sheridan is on Steels, That is the route to get to the closest Subway station to get to Downtown Toronto if the Go train isn't running.... (yes there is all day Go Service from port Credit but the time it would take you to get there would be similar to the time a LRT would be to Etobicoke for Kippling Station i would imagine) Also What happens to all these Zum Bus' we have purchased? ect..
If this goes ahead (with out us knowing our Share of all costs) it will be empty 80% if not more of the time. Who's going to pay (subsidize) those costs of an empty train running every what 20/30 minutes? How many people do we need for this to run e

Yes to LRT. - BUT - re-route so that it makes sense for Brampton.

Downtowns of cities are of the past. New cities don't need a downtown. Look around! I bet there are many residents of Brampton who neither know nor care about downtown Brampton. I live 3 blocks away.

The Meadowland/Centennial Park/Hospital route is fantastic and very well planned.

Bad move......we don't want this up here. The traffic will be crazy and we have children that play outside. Cars speed up our road as it is.

Plenty of routing options. The LRT is not a magic redevelopment bullet. It can' t turn century estate homes into cool shops and cafes. But it can service transit riders and locations such as the Powerade Centre where people want to go and drink without driving. In that vein, there are so many options to make an LRT work the way it is supposed to.

I think it should go along Kennedy Rd to Queen to eventually link to a Brampton/Vaughan line

but NOT North of Steeles into Brampton

Yes it seems to be taking Linda Jeffrey and her supporters a long time to understand….WE WANT THE LRT WE DON'T WANT IT TO RUN DOWNTOWN BRAMPTON!!!!!!!!!

There is a better way called "Smart LRT" which is safer and faster than Traditional LRT. and has an awesome flowplan that gives an LRT system on part of Main Street, and all of Queen Street for less money. contact me at [email protected], for details. It provides 10 extra kilometres of LRT and about 15 extra stops for the SAME COMMITTED METROLINX DOLLARS. while being better for all (cars, business, riders, and people).

Brampton has become a sprawling metropolis and we need to keep some parts historic. I am a 60 year resident in Peel would love to keep downtown Brampton beautiful.

I disagree with any above ground LRT service beyond Brampton Mall. The presence of LRT trains on this already narrow road will result in traffic diverting elsewhere and ensure the downtown area continues to be avoided by most of Brampton's citizens.

Building an LRT in Brampton that excludes the new PM health facility is insane.
