I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the way so many people have come together to talk about this schedule change. This momentum belongs entirely to the students who are speaking up about their own experiences. I truly never expected this to resonate with so many of you.

Any student without perfect study skills will be buried under double homework. It also means that if a student fails a key course (say, Language Arts II) they cannot complete four levels of language arts without taking two levels simultaneously.
As a parent I really feel bad for our students. I can't imagine the stress they are feeling with this new A/B schedule. Trying to learn eight different subjects all year long on top of sports, clubs, volunteering, spending time with family and attending church. When will our kids have time to do anything else. I really feel bad for the Art department as well. My daughter has LOVED being in pottery. She has told me on a few different occasion that storage is an issue when you are drying your pottery. Can you imagine the storage issues you will have when you have double the students. I pray they work something out it would be terrible to lose such a great course and Mr. Stouffer is a great mentor for the students he teaches.
So much focus is placed now on being a well rounded person. How are these students going to have time for family time, sports, clubs, etc..... when they have 8 classes worth of homework/studying to do? They are already stretched thin as it is.
Changing to this scheduling system will disrupt the plan that current students have in place. It will also cause some rising Seniors not to be able to take some of the classes they have planned for next year. You will no longer be able to take level 1 and level 2 classes in the same year. What do you have in place to accommodate graduation requirements for this situation?
A regular 4 class semester is stressful enough. I do not want to have to deal with this my senior year when getting things with graduation puts stress on it enough. One day you have to memorize and learn things and then the next day it would be new material, then the next day you'd have to go back and remember the stuff from the day before yesterday. It is too confusing, and hard on a student. I absolutely in no way think this has any positive effect.

Not only will this schedule change prevent students from doubling up upon most classes, but it will also cripple the art department. Studio/storage space will be lost as we will have to accommodate for several more classes at once, and the pottery department would all but disappear due to the drying nature of clay. This change is also completely unfair to marching band students, who would not be able to practice for even half of their normal timing, and would be unable to compete in competition.
