This is very good, thanks. I have been thinking of this for along time now. name has impact. the word '' fei zhou '' '' 非洲 '' comes from the real terms '' 阿非利加洲 '' meaning Africa. But was abbreviate to 非洲. This may have been derive from former mindset, because of what Africa had been going through. when I learn about this , had been trouble in my spirit, why not 阿洲 or 阿利加州 or 加洲 but the word with negative meaning was chosen. The word fei 非 doesn't mean ugly, it means 1. for nothing continent 2. not to be continent 3. non existence place 4. incorrect continent 5. dead land /continent 6. wrong place on Earth 7. incapable land 8. not a continent. 9. place without orderliness and control over itself. 10. place without success and future. I stop this far, by defining the word and it come set. one question you should ask yourself, why do Chinese think the way they think about Africa? what do they think about Africa ( the previous and present ) ? the previous had been negative give birth to this name. the present is showing what mindset they had long ago. you check that puzzle yourself. why do you think it not that easy for a quick future change? ( for African in China ). Thanks.
