Ontario students deserve real financial literacy. AFINATUNE is calling for a stronger, earlier, and more comprehensive financial education curriculum that prepares every student for the real world.

Financial literacy in Ontario is still introduced too late and in too limited a way. Many students only learn basic concepts in Grade 7, and even then the education is not enough to help them navigate budgeting, credit, saving, taxes, debt and investing. Without these skills, young adults enter the world unprepared and at risk of financial stress, debt and limited economic opportunity.

Who is impacted?
Every student in Ontario. The current system leaves youth without the knowledge they need to manage money confidently and responsibly.

What is at stake?
If nothing changes, more students will face increasing debt, poor financial habits and long-term insecurity. With stronger and earlier financial literacy, students will be better prepared to make smart choices that strengthen their futures and Ontario’s economy.

Why now?
Ontario has recently expanded some financial literacy programming, but research shows that financial education is most effective when it starts early and is reinforced consistently. Waiting until high school is too late. Students need this knowledge while their habits and attitudes are forming. The time to act is right now.

Our Campaign
AFINATUNE is launching a province-wide movement to bring real financial literacy to Ontario schools. Our goal is to secure 30,000 signatures in 30 days to show Ontario’s leaders, educators and policymakers that students want meaningful change. We intend to bring this message directly to Parliament and advocate for a curriculum that truly prepares youth for adulthood.
