UNHCR: Harsh Condition of Afghan Refugees
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)
Case Postale 2500
CH-1211 Genève 2 Dépôt Suisse.
We, the Afghan people residing in Europe, America, and the Middle East would like to bring to your attention the harsh conditions being faced by Afghan Refugees in Pakistan. There have been recent developments of forced relocation, abuse, and false imprisonment of Afghan Refugees living in Pakistan. The Afghan Refugees have been subjected to harsh treatment by Pakistani Authorities. We are witnessing the closure of Afghan run businesses, & educational institutions. Moreover, the Afghan Refugees are being intimidated and many instances physically beaten by Pakistani Police. Footage on YouTube depicts Afghan Refugees being harshly interrogated and subjected to abuse by authorities. Furthermore, Afghan men are being falsely imprisoned and/or forced to move to Afghanistan leaving their families and children behind.
We ask for your leadership and commitment to bring about a balanced and swift resolution to the conditions of Afghan Refugees. The Afghan people have always lived in peace with its fellow Muslim brothers and sisters in Pakistan and would like to continue a positive and healthy relationship with its fellow neighbors. Thus, we respect and are demanding for the UN Charter on Refugees to be highly enforced in Pakistan. Again, we appreciate the international community’s commitment in helping the long suffering people of Afghanistan.
Sincerely,
Petitioned by the Afghan People Residing in the West
