Affirmative Action currently does exactly what it was intended to eliminate: discrimination.

Affirmative action is discriminatory towards majority groups, who are often snubbed when attempting to apply to certain institutions because the school is attempting to meet a certain ‘racial quota’. This racial quota does not benefit anyone except for the school. It helps them receive certain donations and money grants that they would not receive if there wasn’t a certain amount of minorities. In this process of creating reverse discrimination, the minority groups are hurt. By accepting an individual based on their race instead of their qualifications, they are doing the student a disservice. The student is often ill-equipped to handle the rigor of the school, and ends up failing out. These schools should be attempting to promote a students success, not aid towards their failure.

Also affirmative action is discriminatory towards minorities as it makes it seem as  though they need extra help to receive an acceptance into the university. Many minorities are just as qualified as others applying to the school, and affirmative action simply devalues their achievements. It is condescending and unnecessary.

Race should not be a factor in the admissions process.

Please sign this petition and help me show our lawmakers that university admissions should be a colorblind process

I have been reviewing the feedback pouring in and the personal accounts of unfair admissions practices are overwhelming. We need to keep this momentum moving forward so take a moment to tag your local representatives on social media today. Send a direct email to the admissions boards at these universities and demand a shift toward merit-based standards.
