Every single person is important and shaming people is never going to change their minds, and it is not up to the church to say whether that is right or wrong, it is something that should be a part of their own personal relationship with God. And if they do not have a relationship with God Christians are not called to judge them either. No matter what you believe or think should be promoted in the church or not promoted, the church sets a standard and should set the standard of loving people no matter what not breaking down people who already receive judgment and hatred every day from so many people in the world. Love, love, LOVE everyone.

Christ compels us to love, accept and include. His words are the most important written in red. And as Dr's. Cross, Jenkins, and Boone would attest to, there is no biblical or exegetical basis in the written words of Jesus prohibiting students to identify as and have full inclusion as LGBTQ+. The School of Religion with its actions nearly caused me to the bring of suicide with a major bout of depression and anxiety when coming out in 2010. They threatened me that I might not be able to finish my degree in the College of Education. Yet, the NCAA (of which the athletic program seeks to be fully participant in)-- does not allow discrimination on the basis of orientation or gender identity. Lee University must send a clear, consistent message and begin to undo the wrongs of so many students forced into conversion therapy. That is the opposite of what Christ would have us do.
