As an incoming ninth grader I was hoping to at least be able to audition. I know I’m not a strong dancer, but I
just wanted to be able to improve, or even just have this as a fun class/activity that my friends and I could all enjoy. I’ve loved watching Burroughs shows and dance since kindergarten and always thought that could be me someday. Now, here I am about to go into high school and I feel like an opportunity has been taken away from not just Burroughs students but also anyone incoming or anyone that looked forward to this being part of their high school experience.

I will leave dance is a very important growth development. To be able to express themselves with and through their body.

Taking dance away feels unfair, especially when no other sports programs are being cut. Please keep dance as a PE option for students like me who thrive in the arts!

I love taking her dance class and it was one of the highlights of my day. Ms. Pierce is so amazing as a person and a teacher.

Emily Pierce’s dance program was the highlight of my high school. She is the reason I looked forward to going to school. Single handedly one of the most amazing dancers, kind hearted souls, and driven dancers I have ever met. Always has the best attitude when starting her class and can always count on her to brighten up your mood and day. I wouldn’t have asked for a better dance teacher and now she teaches my younger sister and she gets to experience how great dance is at John Burroughs HS with Emily Pierce!!! We love you Miss Pierce

Dance serves an incredibly important outlet and community-building role for my son, who is part of Burroughs Dance Team and Dance Pro. And Ms. Pierce is the heart of dance. She is beloved by all, integral and indispensable. Ms. Pierce must remain at Burroughs and dance must continue.
