Advocacy for Halal/Kosher School Lunches in NYC Public Schools

Yes we need school food.

I would have loved to have halal option at school instead of having to opt for the vending machine snacks.

Halal food is healthy

We are in need of halal school lunches. We have been fighting for this issue for many years and it is time the public school system adjusts their menu so people of all religious backgrounds can eat during their school days. Many students who strictly eat halal tend to not eat since their school menus have no adjustments made. They stay hungry all day until they get home to eat. This has to change considering the fact that NYC is the most diverse city in the world.

I remember having to hope there was something permissible for me to eat everyday in elementary and middle school and I would go hungry many days. This is not NYC and this is not what we stand for.
