This serves to bring attention to a growing issue in adolescent gambling.

This gambling takes place in video games, mobile games, etc. via a Random Number Generator (RNG).

RNG as it is named is programmed randomness and is usually in Free to Play (F2P) games in one form or another. These forms range widely, but are typically some sort of "slot machine" or "mystery box." Player spend real money for a chance to acquire something rare or of value in F2P games. The aquire able items also bring faster progress through the games.

Like a slot machine, children spend money for a number of spins, or a number of mystery boxes containing coveted items (some items are only exclusively RNG). These RNG systems in F2P games are money grabs swindling children out of their money. These games do not promise the coveted items, but occasionally "drop rates," are increased for the more coveted items to increase revenue for the game.

There are countless cases of adolescents spending hundreds of dollars to try and gain these coveted items to no avail. This leads to a form of gambling addiction where adolescents feel obligated to continue spending money for a small chance at something they want.

Seeing as gambling is not legal for adolescents this petition serves to ban the use of RNG systems in games and mobile applications adolescents have access to play, or denying access to those underage by law of their government.
