Adjuncts for a More Flexible Workload

Isn't the point being missed that with 15 credits the Faculty member should be considered FULL-TIME, and that with workload hours flexibility or not, this amount violates fair labor practices. Anyone who works 15 or more semester hours in teaching by definition should be considered a full-time employee--and I would appreciate an e-reply !

All adjuncts should be permitted to service their full 15 hrs at in any configuration, over one or more CUNY colleges.

I (barely) support a family of five on adjuncts wages.

Due to the increasing of most courses to 4 credits instead of 3, the 9-6 rule has caused me financial losses. I have been offered plenty of classes at colleges, but due to the limitations of the 9-6 rule I have had to turn the classes down, leaving the schools scrambling to fill classes with instructors just days before the start of classes.

Why not allowing all 15 credits on one campus?

Adjunct has to have guaranteed pathway to become full time lecturer.

Seems a lot better. I can hardly save money event though I teach at 2 schools. I have to have roommates to split the rent.

I completely agree with that petition and that's why I am signing it. I am in the same predicament right now.

This is an excellent cause, as I have for 10 years been limited to the 9 hour rule, while some semesters, I've wanted and needed to teach more.

Seems much fairer. I have been an adunct in CUNY since 1980.

This workload limit, by campus, is illogical.

Adjuncts should be allowed to teach 12 hr at one CUNY campus

Article 15.2 is an abusive policy that keeps adjuncts on the margins of employment and always scrambling for classes at other CUNY campuses and various NYC colleges and universities to make ends meet. There is a serious lack of professional ethic in Higher Education towards adjuncts. We are given the great responsibility of teaching knowledge and training the next generation of youth, yet we are not given professional support nor respect. Higher Ed needs a wake up call and especially CUNY!

A more humane work schedule is needed - the 9/6 limit adds one more undue hardship to the lives of contingent faculty.

Seems like a sensible proposal

If this helps, I am all for it. However, it is still unfair to adjuncts. If a person is teaching 12 hours on a campus, they might as well be given full time employment.
