We call upon the Trustees of Loyola Marymount University to respect our adjunct colleagues’ right to freely associate and organize, including to vote for union representation, without intimidation, pressure, delay, or hindrance. We urge our Trustees to respect Catholic social teaching on the right of workers to form unions, a teaching that is clear, consistent, and explicit, as embodied in the U. S. Catholic Bishops’ 1986 Pastoral Letter Economic Justice for All, which addressed the matter directly: “The Church fully supports the right of workers to form unions or other associations to secure their rights to fair wages and working conditions.”
