My daughter has been diagnosed with dylexia. Her elementary teachers have been great at modifying her curriculum however, the middle school and high school will not do the same. Also, many of her strategies are not dyslexia specific therefore applicable throughout MS and HS. Which is a disservice to her and negligent on the schools part. However, if dyslexia is not identifiable or recognized, schools will not honor the population. I find thatbto be trading ethics for mandates and policies. That is not doing what is best for our children. I pray this becomes addressable, recognized, diagnosable, and attended to for all children in schools.

I would invite any lawmaker to come to my clinic or speak with me personally about the dyslexic children we serve in Western NY>

Our children can and should be helped. Our dyslexic children should have the same feeling of satisfaction in reading as other children. With the appropriate updated best practices for dyslexics, success will happen. I live it every day with my students. EGW Clintondale, NY
