We, the residents of Romnes Apartments are formally requesting to The Department Of Housing and Urban Development Washington D.C., The Community Development Authority Madison WI, and Mayor Paul Soglin that the current cable TV company being used by CDA be changed and that the tennants of Romnes Apartments be allowed to use Dish Network or Direct TV as long as the satellite equipment isnt installed on the building. We have had several discussions with the different satellite companies and they have assured us that no damage to the building would happen as there are many ways to install their equipment. Tennants in this building have been paying up to 195.00 per month for services that these other cable and or satellite companies charge much less for. We are requesting that there be a meeting with the residents, CDA and the satellite companies to decide how this change can happen and be beneficial for the residents of Romnes Apartments. Many of the tennants in recent months have dropped all services with Charter Communications because of their outrageous billing practices and refusal to allow the tennants into lower cable TV packages. We live in low cost housing for a reason, we can not afford the higher rents with our lower incomes and we should not be held hostage to the high pressure tatics Charter is using on their customers. So we are requesting that CDA/HUD allow the Romnes Tennants to be able to choose what cable company or what satellite company they want to use as long as it is not damaging to the building. It actually should be considered an improvement upgrade to the building to bring it up to current standards as other apartments in the city have done. Hud allows certain funding yearly for improvements needed for the building this is a upgrade/repair that is long over due. The following signatures are from Romnes tennants that want this change to happen so that we can continue to live in a comfortable environment and not feel financially threatened every month by Charter Communications as to if we are going to have another increase in our bills for their services.
