To:

Edwin Lee, San Francisco Mayor,

The planet is suffering. And it is soon to take us with it.

In response, we, denizens of San Francisco, propose implementing an additional gas of $0.10/gallon, and using that revenue to modernize transportation. This in turn will reduce CO2 emissions, decelerate climate change, and improve our quality of life.

Transportation produces almost 30% of America's global warming emissions. There is currently more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today than there has been at any time in the past 800,000 years.

By putting a small additional tax to gas in San Francisco, we can reduce CO2 emissions, and provide the basis to improve the lifestyles of people. Traffic will be reduced because the tax revenue will be used to create more bike lanes, install smart traffic lights, and fund quality public transportation. This will increase the number of bicyclists, therefore reducing obesity and promoting healthier lifestyles. Roads will be repaired and clarity of lanes will be prioritized to help the flow of traffic. This will encourage more citizen ridership in public transportation as well. Most importantly, our aim is to reduce CO2 emissions, which will work towards slowing down rising sea levels and averting global climate catastrophe while promoting healthier and more beneficial lifestyles.

While putting a small tax on gas will be preemptive to saving the city we call home, it will also improve our mobile efficiency and quality of life.

Sincerely,
People of San Francisco
