The main purpose of this petition is to have local cinemas in the New Hartford and Rome, NY area add captions! We have a large Deaf community and it would only be fair that they too can enjoy movies to their hearts content! So I ask everyone to pass it along and sign!!
I have been in communication with several regional theater managers to discuss the necessity of accessible film screenings. The feedback I am receiving highlights a clear demand for inclusive programming in our area.

The response to this proposal has been truly heartening. This momentum demonstrates how vital accessible cinema is for our local community.

I is a shame that the Americans with disabilities Act, a law that was passed to protect the rights of individuals with disabilities so many years ago..and Deaf people still need to fight for equal access! What a shame. There must be more that can be done when a business or public entity continually denies access to a specific group of people based solely on their disability. I believe this is what the cival rights movement was all about. Thank you in advance for choosing to do the right thing (as outlined by ADA) and making your theaters accessible.

I would like to go to Rome Cinemas with my family and be able to watch a movie and understand it with captions. Ever since my kids were old enough to go to movies.. I never want to go, because I don't enjoy it at all without captions.

We make buildings handicapped accessible. This is no different. Captions shouldve been in theaters long ago.

Yes, must have subtitles so your theaters would be much popular and good business. Not only Deaf and HoH but HEARINGs people would love to read subtitles when there are nosies in background.

We shouldn't have to drive all way to Syracuse just for captioned movies. Rome Cinema does provide captioned movie just ONCE a month and that is ALWAYS inconvenience for me. Open captioned all movies NOW!

I know life's not fair but it goes too far not to do more to include the deaf and hoh in ALL communities
