There is plenty of support for continuing differentiated math while implementing the Common Core by other districts as well as the NCTM and NAGC. And in fact, there should be an increase, not a decrease, in differentiated tracks across more subjects.

Orinda cannot make its kid lose from middle school because of a wrong decisioin from OUSD.

It is imperative that we add accelerated Math to the OIS Common Core Standards for the kids that will benefit. The brightest kids in any subject should be challenged to learn beyond the level they are at. That is how leaders are made. They will dumb themselves down if not challenged and motivated.

My 8th grader who did the honor math in the past three years has really enjoyed the benefit of accelerated math and learning with kids of similar math level. Putting all the kids in the same math class will be very boring for some students and kill the interest. Please address the needs for students with different levels. On the other hand, several years ago Orinda had math specialist in elementary schools and advanced program for language besides math at OIS. Now it seems they are gone. If the honor math is also taken away, we are degrading our education program by removing the available resources.

I am going to be a 6th grader at OIS next year, and I was really looking forward to honors math next year...BRING IT BACK!!!!

Implement common core BUT don't take away accelerated math. It's not fair to those kids who are advanced in their math skills.
