We petition for Adam Lambert to continue performing in Countdown 2016 at The Float @ Marina Bay.

Firstly, one should be reminded that performers are valued for their showmanship and talents. Adam Lambert has consistently been a renowned artist who has performed many sold-out concerts and at many key events. Therefore, it should be an honour for Singapore to host and welcome him to our country in our Jubilee year. Thus, we believe that Adam Lambert should be allowed to perform in Countdown 2016 as he is a highly sought-after and talented musician whose achievements and accolades cannot be denied.

Secondly, it should be important to separate the performer's private and public life. We believe that his sexual orientation and lifestyle should not be a deciding factor in determining whether he should be able to perform in our country. If we deny Lambert the chance to perform, it would detrimental to Singapore's international standing as a forward-thinking country that promotes equality. Therefore, it is imperative that we allow Adam Lambert to perform based on his merits and talents.

Thirdly, one performance has no capacity to change the conventional values that have been ingrained in our society. Furthermore, there are many western influences that minors are able to access freely through websites such as YouTube, Facebook, etc.

Finally, this notion to remove Adam Lambert from Countdown 2016 is inconsistent with our previous precedents that have been set. Lambert has performed many times in Singapore, most recently in September this year at the Singapore F1 Grand Prix with Maroon 5.

We seriously urge the committee to consider the serious consequences of removing Lambert, and we hope that he will be warmly welcomed come Countdown 2016.

Thank you for your kind attention.
