Canadians
enjoy a country of unparalleled natural beauty and a wealth of resources. We
also enjoy the freedom to speak out against those who may seek to exploit or
destroy these gifts.
In Canada, a mother and patriot can challenge
corruption, injustice and greed through peaceful protests in a fight to stop
polluters from robbing her community and family from the clean water they all
desperately need. In Canada, a mother fighting for what is righteous and just
would return home to read to her children, tuck them into bed, and the next
morning ready them for school.
On March 03, 2016, Berta Cáceres, passionate
and tireless defender of Honduran waterways, put her children to bed, and was
brutally murdered while they slept. A week later, her counterpart was also
murdered as have more than 100 human rights and environmental advocates in
Honduras since 2010.
Not a single
case has been investigated or prosecuted!
Of whom much is given, much is expected and
with all that Canadians have, it must be expected that we demand justice for
Berta and the others whose lives were brutally taken for simply wanting clean
water for their families, communities and country.
We the undersigned citizens of Canada urge Hon.
Stephané Dion, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Michael Gort, Canadian
Ambassador to Honduras demand justice through an exhaustive, independent and
international investigation into
Berta's murder, and the murder of the nearly 100
others since 2010
ABSOLUTELY HEARTBREAKING. Canada needs to step up and stop ignoring what is happening down there. JUSTICE FOR BERTA.
