Action against Policing Module Level 5 Criminology
This is a letter from the students of the Level 5 Criminology degree to ask for action to be taken regarding the policing modules first assessment. This group assessment firstly has started over two weeks late , we were supposed to be put into groups in week 2, it’s now week 6 and we only got given groups at the very end of week 4. Apart from being put into groups we haven’t had any real help in regards to the assessment. We have had 2 of our seminars where two seminar groups have been cramped into a small room. We have had barely any time working in groups and while we understand more work is expected of us , we have had had literally nothing . We haven’t been talked through about the assessment in regards to what we need to be doing , the only thing we have had is a video on presentation skills. Also in regards to the reading we feel that many of us come prepared only to discuss completely different topics as well as some of the reading not working, while one of the readings was in a book which would have had to have been shared between 200 students . We are only covering some of the articles in the next couple of weeks and with only a couple of weeks till it’s due in we feel that something needs to be done , Level 5 is important and our marks count and most of us feel we have no idea as to what is happening in the module , what is really expected and what they are expecting from the presentation or peer assessment . We feel the deadline for the presentation should be pushed back , as with the lack of help or explanation we have had towards the assignment we feel that we cannot properly be assessed as we should. Many thanks , Students ( Level 5)
