We the undersigned require urgent action to be taken to prevent flooding of our villages in Lingwood, Strumpshaw, Brundall & Blofield. Our homes, our livelihoods and our gardens are all being affected by excess rain water and raw sewage that pours out from the drains. In 2016 this is unacceptable to have to allow our children to wade through sewage on their way home from school. For businesses to be closed for months on end (The Huntsman Pub)To have water gurgling back up our toilets and waste pipes in our own homes. Every time it rains people of the above villages are concerned about how high the next level of water will be and the aftermath & damage caused

This needs to be addressed NOW and action needs to be taken by our Local Council and Authorities.

Updates

July 24, 2016

The stories shared by neighbors about the damage to their homes have been both heartrending and instrumental in building our case. I am currently working to collate this information into a formal document to present to the council representatives next week.

Reaching this level of support confirms that the recurring struggle with flooding in our villages is a shared burden rather than an isolated inconvenience. This momentum transforms our private frustrations into a clear mandate that the local council can no longer overlook.

Since more and more houses have been built in Lingwood the natural drainage has been lost resulting in the water having to go down the drains but the system was already at capacity and now cant cope hence the problems with flooding in the area. Its about time this is remedied before any more are built as the problem will only continue and get worse. At the moment we are missing out on a very important part of the local villages life with the pub being closed.

Flooding is becoming a regular occurrence around our villages. The drains are not man enough to cope. Many ditches on the roadside are not maintained. Hedges on the edges of fields have been removed or not maintained so water just pours off the fields adding to the problem silting up the existing drainage system...... and we are facing an increasing problem with more housing and inadequate infrastructure.

Local businesses struggle enough, without having this to deal with too. And making people walk through raw sewerage is totally unacceptable.

I agree something must be done, we regularly visit the huntsman to support local businesses, they will be losing significant income. I am also having garden dug up by BT for second time in 4 years as floods have damaged phone line.

If money can be found to rectify problems with the Postwick Hub, why can't money be found to sort out the surrounding roads prone to flooding.

Field ditches just don't get cleared each year leading to flooding on Post Office Road, Lingwood.

I am a frequent visitor to Norfolk and the broads. This is a region of England that desperately needs protrcting, both for the local residents and the holiday makers who take in its beauty every year.

This really needs to be sorted out to prevent a recurrence.
