I work within the taxi industry in Scarborough and in recent years have witnessed a decrease in new younger drivers coming on board to replace the retirees...there isn't enough drivers and cars to service the town...to implement even tougher and more costly regulations at this time is downright 'silly'...particularly when the cars have legal vehicle mot's and council checks already...overkill by SBC.

SBC, attempting to steal business from the very people they are supposed to represent, so wrong.

I get the feeling that this is a revenue generation exercise resulting from local authorities budget cuts 40% - the long term result will be small businesses closing and reduced tax income .

Operating a cartel in s place as small as Scarborough is both unethical and descriminatory. If you are unconvinced of safety of MOT then institute more thorough monitoring system. Local garages depend upon local custom/ I anticipate a franchise will be created for which only large concerns could bid, Poor SBC

Another nail in the coffin for a dying trade. The licensing authority need to look into there own house and get that in order by doing more and working with not against the trade.

This would be totally unfair to garages and is an example of a power crazy council riding roughshod over local ratepayers

Let the Council Audit the independent garages, not undertake to do the MOT's themselves.

Typical SBC can't let anything alone if it's not a problem

Why do you SBC feel the need to do this? Why take the business away from local garages. Outrageous proposal, & not what you were voted in to do.

Perhaps they need to remember they're administrators and NOT the law. They can't or don't enforce the current rules...
