We the undersigned are concerned by the increasing number of traffic accidents that have taken place on the A45 between the River Cole and the City Boundary involving pedestrians using pedestrian crossing points. We call on the City Council to urgently look into the safety of the road and implement any changes needed to improve the safety for pedestrians crossing the road.

Updates

September 7, 2013

I have finalized the formal letter to the City Council traffic department outlining the accident history at these specific crossing points. A meeting request is currently with the department head to discuss site assessments for the A45. I will update you on the logistics as soon as their office confirms a time.

The scale of this response has forced the City Council to acknowledge our request for a formal safety review. I have secured a meeting with the transport department to present our demands for infrastructure improvements directly.

Too many near misses everyday. Needs traffic lights or at least a bridge.

ALMOST GOT HIT TWICE LAST MONTH. The council needs to wake up before someone actually dies here. Fix it now.

Used this crossing for years and its always a nightmare. Cars go way too fast on this stretch.
