Interested in a safe and convenient access to the Delaware Canal Towpath?

Our neighborhood Buckland Valley Farms, is alongside one of Bucks County's treasures, the Delaware Canal Towpath. There are many of us who would like to walk, ride bikes, and run along the towpath, but there is no safe access. The closest access is the River Road bridge. It is very dangerous, has no sidewalk or shoulder approaching the bridge, and a blind curve on the north bound lane.
• There are 250 homes in BVF with no safe access to the canal
• The Bowman’s Tower Farm neighborhood development of only 14 homes has a bridge to the canal
• The closest public access is the Washington Crossing Road Bridge (Route 532) and is about 2 miles away
• Our closest foot bridge is at the David Library of the American Revolution, over a mile away and on private property
The Buckland Valley Farms Canal Access Committee has met with the Upper Makefield Township Board of Supervisors requesting safe access to the canal. The Supervisors’ response was positive, and they will start researching possibilities. They have asked for signatures of support from our community in addition to requests from the Buckland Valley Farms Canal Access Committee.
