ACCA have Mutual Recognition Agreements with the following: 1) Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants 2) Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants 3) Certified General Accountants Association of Canada Therefore the ‘Global’ ACCA accountancy qualification has only MRA’s with other national qualifications . If, however, you were ICAEW / ICAS or even CIMA you would have far greater options regarding which other national accountancy bodies would recognise your qualification. I guess this is why most people go for ICAEW after ACCA to gain MRA with CA or if they are looking to move to Australia choose CIMA to gain MRA with CPA. BUT WHY cant ACCA have and mutual rights granted? I believe we should at least be eligible for just a conversion exam for Australian laws and tax and then be granted MRA with CA.
