The purpose of this petition is to create an Organizational Affiliate within the American Counseling Association, titled the ASSOCIATION FOR TRAUMA COUNSELING AND DEVELOPMENT (ATCD). This Organizational Affliate will promote awareness and understanding of traumatology within the field of Professional Counseling. ATCD recognizes the need for special training and supervision in the areas of crisis and trauma, and will help set standards for the delivery of counseling services in disasters (natural and interpersonal) to promote the development, health, and wellness of affected people across the life span.
If you are interested in supporting ATCD in becoming an Organizational Affiliate within ACA please sign this petition. We need at least 200 ACA Members to sign the petition. You do not HAVE to be an ACA member to sign the petition (just enter "null" or "no number" in that text box). Please be sure to find and include your ACA member number, email address, phone number, and area of interest/specialty related to traumatology.

I keep refreshing the page and it is just wild to see how many people want this trauma network to actually exist in the association. Honestly it feels like we finally have some real traction and I am vibrating with excitement over here because this is exactly what we have been talking about for so long.

Working in trauma everyday it is shocking how little support is currently available. Let's make this happen!!
So many counselors are out here trying to help but lacking specific tools for crisis. We need this affiliation to help us grow as professionals.
This is long overdue for all of us working in the trenches. Support this 100%.
Trauma work is the future of our field. Glad to see some movement on this.
